The following statement is attributable to Kyle Bragg, President of 32BJ SEIU:
“We are devastated by the horrid attack one of our members, a doorman at 104-21 68th Drive in Forest Hills, Queens, survived on Saturday night. We remain in close contact with the doorman, his family and others at the building to continue assessing the situation and ensure that our member receives the care he needs at this challenging time. Our thoughts are with our member as we pray for his quick and full recovery.
“The doormen of New York are frontline workers who protect the residents of their buildings against visible threats such as intruders and invisible threats like the coronavirus. Their continued work and bravery safeguards thousands of New Yorkers, and their sacrifices merit recognition.
“We ask the public to respect the privacy of the building staff, as the investigations into the incident are still ongoing. It is our hope that the attacker is identified and brought to justice as soon as possible.”
