HARTFORD, Conn. — 32BJ SEIU Connecticut today announces the endorsement of Ned Lamont for re-election as Governor of Connecticut. Representing nearly 5,000 members across the state who clean and protect hundreds of offices, schools, courts, transportation centers and other important sites, the union’s Connecticut District is part of the nation’s largest building service employees union and one of the nation’s largest with a majority Black, brown and immigrant membership. The following statement may be credited to Rochelle Palache, 32BJ SEIU Vice President and head of the union in Connecticut.

“We are proud to announce our endorsement of Ned Lamont for reelection to a second term as Governor of Connecticut.  Governor Lamont has ably seen the state through the Covid-19 pandemic while also attending to the vital needs of essential workers who risked everything for very little personal return through the crisis. This support started early in his first term with his enthusiastic embrace of the $15 minimum wage bill, and it continues today with his support for a number of measures that will benefit working people, including his support for fast food workers at the Connecticut Interstate service plazas who continue to suffer from underpayment and managerial disrespect. The Governor knows that in a second term he must continue to demonstrate this support for low wage workers of all colors and nations of origin, and we are committed to working toward his re-election with a vigorous Get out the Vote effort through Election Day.”
