“While the Supreme Court rejected some horrendous aspects of Arizona’s controversial immigration law, the decision to uphold the irresponsible “Show Me Your Papers,” provision is a troubling development that will allow the continuation of this degrading and threatening police practice against communities of color in Arizona and elsewhere.”

“This ruling is an example of why a large voter turn-out is needed in November to push back on the GOP, a party that has been taken hostage by extremists who promote racial profiling practices that legal and law enforcement authorities agree should have no place in our legal system.”

“The Obama Administration should be praised for taking this law to court and was right to point out the illegality of SB1070. America’s immigration policy must be uniform and fair. The Court’s decision striking down some of the most outrageous aspects of SB 1070 vindicates the view that the best solution to our immigration crisis is comprehensive immigration reform not a hodgepodge of disconnected state laws.”
