SEIU 32BJ Endorses 76 Candidates for NJ Legislature for 2021 Elections

NEWARK, NJ — The members of SEIU 32BJ, the largest property services union in the country, announced their endorsements for the New Jersey State Senate and the General Assembly for November 2021 elections on Monday.

“As we continue rebuilding and recovering from COVID-19, we need to support candidates who will champion New Jersey’s working families,” said SEIU 32BJ Vice President and New Jersey state director Kevin Brown. “Our members want to know that their leaders will protect them and stand up for their rights. They want candidates who will fight with them for their health, their livelihood as essential workers, and defend their rights as people of color and immigrants.  Most importantly, SEIU 32BJ members want to see commitment to and leadership on policies that will protect working families, such as hazard pay, adequate sick days, and protections for workers organizing for good wages and meaningful benefits.”

SEIU 32BJ represents about 13,000 members in New Jersey, who work as residential porters, door attendants, office cleaners, security officers, airport workers, school food service workers and other building service jobs.

With the union’s endorsement came a commitment of its resources to help a candidate win, including member volunteers and financial support.

The deadline to register to vote in New Jersey — online, by mail or in person — is October 12, 2021.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 2, 2021.
