The following statement can be attributed to Gabe Morgan, 32BJ SEIU Pennsylvania State Director:
“State Rep. John Galloway’s plan to impose the deeply flawed and bureaucratic E-Verify system on construction businesses in Pennsylvania will subject thousands of workers, including U.S. citizens, to discrimination and potentially unfair firings. This flawed bill will push immigrants further into the shadows, rewarding unscrupulous off-the-books employers. E-verify is not a fix for our broken immigration system.”
“Immigrant workers and their families are an indispensable part of our communities and economy, and a workable solution must include a path to legalization for hard-working, tax-paying immigrants.
With more than 120,000 members, including 20,000 in Pennsylvania, 32BJ is the largest property services union in the country.
