32BJ SEIU & SEIU Healthcare PA Endorse Jim Kenney For Mayor

Philadelphia— 32BJ SEIU and SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania, who combined represent over 47,000 property service and health care workers in Pennsylvania today announced their endorsement of Jim Kenney for Mayor of Philadelphia.

“Cities are electing strong progressive leaders like Jim Kenney, who put an end stop frisk, support airport workers, public schools and a $15/ hour minimum wage,” said Gabe Morgan, 32BJ’s Pennsylvania Director. “Kenney represents Philadelphia’s best hope at beating back the income inequality that destroys our communities. His relentless commitment to fight this battle separates him from the pack.”

32BJ is the largest private sector union in Philadelphia, with thousands of members who live and work in the city. Known for workers who are highly active in local elections, 32BJ and HCPA will engage a large field program to support the endorsed candidates.

“The women and men who devote their lives to taking care of Philadelphians know that Jim Kenney will fight for good jobs and a healthy city for all,” said Neal Bisno, President of SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania, the state’s largest union of nurses and healthcare workers.

With 145,000 members in eleven states and Washington, D.C., including 22,000 in Pennsylvania, 32BJ SEIU is the largest property service workers union in the country.
