32BJ Commends Gov. Cuomo for Signing Bill to Lift Wages for Utility Workers

The following statement may be attributed to Kyle Bragg, President 32BJ SEIU:

“We commend Governor Cuomo for signing a bill that would lift wages for low-wage workers at monopoly utility companies like ConEdison. For the men and women who clean and secure New York State’s critical infrastructure, this bill will provide a path towards professionalizing a low wage, high turnover industry. This historic victory is ten years in the making and shows the power workers have when they do not give up. We thank the legislature for their strong support, especially lead sponsors, Senator Michael Gianaris and Assembly Member Yuh-Line Niou, for their unwavering commitment to improving the lives of these workers.”

With 175,000 members in 11 states, including 85,000 members in New York, 32BJ SEIU is the largest property service workers union in the country
