Service Workers’ Union Announces Municipal Election Endorsements in Massachusetts

Service Workers’ Union Announces Municipal Election Endorsements in Massachusetts

BOSTON– After reviewing candidate questionnaires and interviewing prospective endorsees in various Massachusetts cities, 32BJ SEIU is proud to announce the union’s full list of endorsed candidates in this fall’s Massachusetts municipal elections.

Kevin Brown, Executive Vice President of 32BJ SEIU and the head of District 615, made the following statement:

We are proud to add to our previous endorsements for the city council elections in Boston with endorsements this month for the city councils of Brockton, Cambridge, Chelsea, Revere, Sommerville, Springfield and Worcester, plus our endorsement of Khrystian King for Mayor of Worcester, Jean Bradley Derenoncourt for Mayor of Brockton, and Brian Worrell for Boston City Councilor in Ward 4.

All these candidates have demonstrated their dedication to supporting unions as a key to winning better conditions for working people in these important cities, as well as to defending the rights of immigrants, people of color, and all working people through these trying times. We will encourage all eligible voters to support them in the coming elections as our member volunteers make phone calls and knock on doors in various cities during every weekend from now until Election Day.

32BJ SEIU is the largest property service workers union in the country, representing 185,000 janitors, security officers, airport workers, and other essential property service employees in 12 states across the East Coast and Washington, D.C., including 20,000 members in the Massachusetts and Rhode Island district.
