“Mayor Bowser’s and Chairman Mendelson’s efforts to restore Metro’s late night hours would be a boon to the men and women who help keep District office buildings safe and clean. Janitors and security officers who don’t get off work until after the last train often have to rely on more expensive forms of transportation. The Mayor and Chairman Mendelson understand that this is too much to ask from low-wage workers who are already juggling multiple jobs to pay their bills and support their families. Metro would be wise to follow the Mayor’s and Chairman’s directive as a necessary step to alleviate the city’s affordability crisis that is causing unnecessary harm to this overwhelmingly immigrant and African-American workforce.”

With more than 175,000 members in 11 states, including 21,000 in PA and DE, 32BJ SEIU is the largest property service workers union in the country.
