The following statement is attributable to Kyle Bragg, President of 32BJ SEIU, the largest property service workers union in the nation, with over 175,000 members in 11 states:
“We are outraged by yet another police killing of an unarmed Black man in Minnesota. Daunte Wright should be alive today. Just as the Derek Chauvin trial forces the nation to relive the trauma of George Floyd’s death, another Black life has been stolen by the police.
“Our broken policing system is on full display in Minnesota this week, but the problem persists in every state, every day. As long as members of law enforcement fail to recognize the humanity of Black people, these senseless killings will not end. We must root out systemic racism at its rotten core and ensure that police are not above the law.”
