Our political work has an impact on us in the workplace so it’s something we need to do in the union too.

On Thursday, February 9 we lost a member of our union family when Doorman Miguel Gonzalez died while sweeping ice-coated steps at his building on East 93rd Street in Manhattan. Mr. Gonzalez leaves behind a wife and stepson.

In the 32BJ family, we know that our members risk injury and even death each day as they go about doing their jobs. We are heartbroken that one of our own has passed while at work, caring for the building he worked at for over 20 years. While we can’t compensate his family for their loss, we can sympathize and show our support during this difficult time.

Individual 32BJ members can contribute to the 32BJ Solidarity Fund by clicking on the Donate button below:

Checks can also be mailed to the NY office at 25 West 18th street, 5th floor, Attn: Accounting Department, New York, New York 10011. Checks should be made payable to “Local 32BJ Solidarity Fund”. All proceeds will go to the family of Mr. Gonzalez.
