“They have to be aware that the people who work for them are not just statistics, but we are people. The union has allowed us to show that and use our voices.”

Airport Strikes Suspended

With strikes looming at Newark, LaGuardia, JFK and Philadelphia International airports, American Airlines and 32BJ SEIU entered into last minute discussions. The strike, involving thousands of airport workers employed by American Airlines’ contractors, still looms as the union, American and other stakeholders sit down to talks.

The union and American Airlines are still in discussions but we remain ready to strike if talks break down. We took a step back to let this process play out but refuse to let the workers’ path out of poverty become another broken promise.

Airport workers have been fighting for a living wage and a union for nearly 5 years. They are willing to do whatever it takes to win. If these talks break down, we are prepared to strike at any time.
