Washington, D.C. – Commercial office cleaners and private security officers from 32BJ of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) today announced their endorsement of Wanika Fisher for Maryland State Delegate for District 47A, representing Prince George’s County.

“Wanika Fisher has both the personal experience from her immigrant family and the on-the-job know-how to tackle the challenges facing immigrant and minority communities in Prince George’s County,” said 32BJ SEIU Vice President Jaime Contreras. “Her tenure with Senator Victor Ramirez as well as helping to reform the criminal justice system and protect immigrants at nearly every level of government in Prince Georges makes her a natural fit for the district.”

Fisher’s experience ranges from her background as a lawyer and community advocate in Prince George’s County to her tenure as an Assistant State’s Attorney and work on the Justice Reinvestment Act and the Trust Act under Senator Ramirez.

With more than 163,000 members in 11 states, including 18,000 in the D.C. Metropolitan Area and throughout Maryland, 32BJ SEIU is the largest property service workers union in the country.
