Unions have helped lift thousands of minority low-wage workers out of poverty by fighting for prevailing wages and good union contracts - points entirely ignored by Christopher Dodds' distorted view of prevailing-wage laws ("Unions use a racist law on projects," Thursday). On average, union workers earn up to 30 percent more than their nonunion counterparts and are 59 percent more likely to have employer-paid health insurance.
