TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - The National Labor Relations Board has filed a complaint against Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale for allegedly interfering with its maintenance workers' union efforts.
The complaint issued Tuesday from Tampa says in 2006, officials at the school told workers subcontracted by a cleaning company they could not distribute union materials on campus.
The Service Employee International Union brought the issue to the NLRB last year. The union says the school ended its contract with the company just as it was successfully organizing workers.
The NLRB did not directly address that issue. A hearing is set for November in Miami.
A university attorney said he believes the case will be dismissed when the facts are heard.
