Marble Hill Assemblyman Adriano Espaillat, a candidate for state Sen. Eric Schneiderman’s 31st district seat, was endorsed by the 32BJ service workers’ union Monday.
“As a member of the Assembly and an active member of his community, Adriano Espaillat has fought tirelessly for the rights of working families and immigrants,” said Héctor Figueroa, 32BJ secretary treasurer at a Monday rally announcing the endorsement.
In the crowded AG race, 32BJ has endorsed Mr. Schneiderman. Mr. Espaillat has also been endorsed by the outgoing Mr. Schneiderman, who is running for state attorney general, and by the Riverdale/Kingsbridge area’s Ben Franklin Reform Democratic Club.
“From supporting the workers’ need for fair contracts to pushing for a living wage law or protecting the right to organize, I am proud to say that I have always been fighting alongside 32BJ,” Mr. Espaillat said in a statement.
With 70,000 members in New York, 32BJ is known as an effective and powerful political ally.
