Ahead of a planned rally involving thousands of apartment building workers next week, the union representing the property service workers is holding round-the-clock negotiations on Thursday.
Crains New York is reporting that New York Local 32BJ SEIU and the Realty Advisory Board have scheduled a massive march up Fifth Avenue from East 79th Street to Park Avenue and East East 83rd Street on Tuesday starting at 5:30 p.m.
As many as 10,000 building workers are expected to participate, reports the paper.
In the meantime, the union representing some 30,000 doormen and other building workers is trying to negotiate a new contract before it expires on April 21.
More than 3,000 apartment buildings in New York City would be affected by a strike.
Local 32BJ wants pay increases, more contributions to health insurance premiums, pensions, 401Ks among other demands.
