SEIU ads targeted BofA CEO
Brian Moynihan earlier this year.
Welcome to Bankers Hours, the Monday morning recap of bank news you might have missed over the weekend (where we trust you're reading this from home or a ski lodge since it's President's Day).
SEIU back in action
When Bank of America workers return to the office on Tuesday, they'll be greeted by an angry group of protesters in uptown Charlotte. The Service Employees International Union is flying about 50 individuals to Charlotte to protest the bank's treatment of security guards at its buildings in New York.
The union says it will be joined by local groups here and plans to deliver giant, empty prescription drug bottles and unfilled prescriptions to BofA CEO Brian Moynihan, while chanting "Cutting jobs and health care is sick," spokesman Kwame Patterson tells Bank Notes.
The protest is tied to a dispute in New York. The union blames BofA for job losses and health care cuts that took place following the bank's acquisition of Merrill Lynch. The bank contends the security workers are employed by a security contractor — not BofA — and the complaint is misdirected.
