SEIU Local 32BJ had City Councilman Alan Gerson deliver a letter to Goldman Sachs yesterday urging the bank to dump T&M Protection Resources. The security firm doesn’t provide employees with vacation, sick days or affordable health care, the letter says, while Goldman got $10 billion in public funding and CEO Lloyd Blankfein received $70.3 million in 2007 compensation. It’s signed by Gerson, Reps. Jerrold Nadler and Anthony Weiner and Council members Miguel Martinez, Darlene Mealy, Tish James and Kendall Stewart. A Goldman spokeswoman says the firm “always insists that [contractors pay] fair wages and benefits” and that it plans to return the $10 billion. T&M says the union is using “falsehoods, coercive tactics and intimidation.”
