Security officers rallied for better industry standards on Manhattan’s Park Avenue Tuesday.
The 475 Allied Barton security officers were joined by local officials to demand a raise, family health care and other improvements.
The officers work in city buildings, including City College and Citigroup.
"It's ridiculous to expect that someone should work and make $10 an hour and support a household,” said Kyle Bragg, vice president of the officers’ union, SEIU Local 32BJ. “These are grown folks, these are men and women who have families, and to expect that they can live off $10 in New York City is absurd."
Allied Barton said it will continue to bargain in good faith to reach a fair contract for the officers, who they say provide outstanding security to New York City clients
