One of DC’s largest security contractors is “putting the safety of our city and residents at risk,” according to a letter signed by all 13 DC City Council members to the Fenty Administration. U.S. Security failed drills to detect weapons in city buildings, but the company still remains the contractor at more than 76 schools and municipal buildings. This year alone, the District has repeatedly fined the company for violating security and contract requirements. In the letter, Council members urge Mayor Fenty to “not allow this company to continue benefiting from taxpayer-funded multi-million dollar contracts” and immediately bring in a responsible contractor we can trust. |
