The enthusiasm and determination are growing rapidly among members of the Latino community of the metropolitan area of the nation capital, after the announcement of the mobilization called "March for America," which will demand the legalization "comprehensive and immediate" of undocumented immigrants.
The public demonstration will take place on Sunday 21 March starting at 11 am in the Area of Monuments (National Mall) Washington, DC, announced by local community leaders at a press conference held on Tuesday Feb. 23.
It is expected that at least 50,000 residents in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia (DC) will join the vast stage, one end of which adjoins the headquarters of the United States Congress.
"If they demand, if not claim, Congress and President Obama will not solve the immigration system," said Gustavo Torres. Chairman of the Board of the National Capital Immigrants Coalition.
Meanwhile, Jaime Contreras, Capital Area director of the union 32BJ, which represents thousands of service workers in the District of Columbia, said "the time has come to repair our outdated immigration system." "Anyone who works 12 hours a day mopping floors, picking vegetables or meat in a factory handling contributes to the economy of the nation and has rightfully earned this opportunity," said Contreras.
Everyone must be ready to march on 21 March to remind the President Obama his campaign promises. "
