The Local 32BJ and Control Building Services, which employs 400 cleaners at Simon's East Coast malls, say the agreement will bring wages in line with office building cleaners in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia.
On May 1, cleaners at 13 of Simon's 17 east coast properties will see wages go up as much as 54 percent, the union says. Wage increases for workers at four Long Island malls will go into effect July 1.
Health benefits for part time workers will go into effect in October, the union says.
Simon Property (NYSE: SPG) owns or holds a stake in 380 retail properties and has 5,000 employees.
