First in a Series of Presidential Forums on Poverty and the Working Poor
New York Times
February 27, 2007
Former Senator John Edwards ventured onto Hillary Rodham Clinton’s home turf today with a speech that drove home the liberal themes that he has been using to distinguish himself from the New York Senator.
His remarks at Baruch College were part of a forum on the working poor sponsored by the Community Service Society, a nonprofit think tank, and 32BJ of the Service Employees International Union. While his speech was closed to the media, he took a handful of questions from reporters afterwards, outlining positions on immigration, health care and employment in measured tones.
