CONTRACT TALKS UNDERWAY FOR 4,000 BRONX WORKERS

Workers Authorize Strike

Negotiations with the Bronx Realty Advisory Board (BRAB) are going on right now for a new contract covering 4,000 workers in Bronx residential buildings.

The average wage for workers in the Bronx is 20% lower than residential members in the City.  Bronx members are fighting for a fair wage increase, an increase in the minimum wage rate, and to secure their health insurance.

Failure to reach a new contract by March 14, 2008, when the current contract expires, could lead to a strike of thousands of building workers at hundreds of apartment buildings. A strike would disrupt the daily routine of thousands of Bronxites.
