I think every shop steward should be training someone else and that person can be training someone else too.

Divisions

This is our largest division with 60,000 members working as office building cleaners throughout 32BJ’s geographic reach. By standing united unionwide, in 2011 we won new contracts that protect pay and benefits for four years for all of 32BJ’s commercial members.
More than 30,000 of 32BJ members are doormen, building maintenance workers, and superintendents working to make apartment buildings clean, safe, and welcoming to the people who call them home. While we’re concentrated in New York City, we also work in New York’s Hudson Valley, northern New Jersey, and Washington, D.C.
Nearly 10,000 of us work in public schools, as well as colleges and universities, as cleaners, building engineers, maintenance workers, school bus drivers, aides, and food service workers. The 2,700 members of District 1201 working for the School District of Philadelphia just voted for a contract that saves jobs and keeps schools safe and clean. The 5,000 public school members of the New York Metro District are fighting for a new contract.
Ten years ago, 32BJ represented 1,000 private security officers: Today we’re 15,000 strong – and growing. With 32BJ, we are raising industry standards and we are winning respect on the job. We’ve just won new contracts and helped thousands of security officers to join our ranks in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
We help make the entertainment experience great in New York: We are the men and women who maintain Broadway theaters, Yankees Stadium, Citi Field, and Barclays Arena.
Professional window cleaning is dangerous work in a city of skyscrapers. We stand up for safe practices while we make sure that office workers get a clean look at the city below.
