Our political work has an impact on us in the workplace so it’s something we need to do in the union too.

Raising Standards for New England Security

Since 2007, security officers in the Boston area  have come together to improve standards in the industry. Boston and Cambridge security officers ratified their first agreement in 2009 with seven major security contractors. The agreement transformed Boston’s security industry– turning lower-wage jobs into better paying careers with benefits, training opportunities and annual salary increases.  Currently 1,200 security officers in Boston, Cambridge and the suburbs who make up our membership are the first line of defense protecting people and property in Boston’s office buildings, playing a vital role in public safety.
