New York, NY –32BJ SEIU unveiled the 4th Annual Member Art Exhibit today at the union’s headquarters in lower Manhattan. The exhibit, titled New Beginnings, includes more than 90 original paintings, drawings, photographs, poems, and other forms of artistic expression by nearly forty artists who are members, officers and staff of the union.
“Like everybody else we have our dreams,” said Edward Bochnak, who works as a superintendent in Manhattan and has travelled the world in search of the perfect snapshot. “We are immigrants, we come from different countries, and we want to invite New York City to see and enjoy our passion for art.”
Now in its fourth year, the number of member artists participating in the exhibition has increased from sixteen to forty. This year’s featured artists include: Wanda Alzamora, Melissa Amernick, Edward Bochnak, Ricardo Buchanan, Christopher Colon, Deirdre Cummins, Charles Dydzuhn, Angel Franco, R. Marie Gallinari, Julius Gaston, Graciela Gil, Arlene Gottfried, Marcelo Goycoechea, Richard Grande, Gabriel Gunther, Jack Kahn, Roberto Knight, Adam Litwin, Ariel A. Lopez, Zoraida Lopez, Marlon Moreira, Julio Pantoja, Flavio Pellegrino, Julian Pimiento, Naja Quintero, Hiram Rodriguez, Olga Safronova, Gary Santana, Carlos Tamayo, Jose Tarazona, Artan Telqui, Vjera Thoma, Stephen Yearwood.
“This exhibit celebrates the diversity of our union as well as the remarkable creativity and talent of our members. These men and women work hard and still find time to express themselves through art,” said Michael Fishman, 32BJ President.
The art show will be on display from June 18th to July 16th in the lobby of 101 Avenue of the Americas in New York City.
