The following statement can be attributed to Hector Figueroa, Secretary Treasurer of 32BJ SEIU:
“Tucson and Flagstaff are right to stand up for their residents and challenge Arizona’s divisive and counterproductive immigration law. Forcing cash-strapped cities to take on federal immigration responsibilities will push undocumented workers deeper into the shadows and distract local law enforcement agents from real threats to our communities.
“Local officials should call on Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform that will help grow our economy without penalizing the hardworking men and women who are already part of our communities.”
With more than 120,000 members in eight states, 32BJ is the largest property service workers union in the country.
