The following statement on E-Verify can be attributed to Jaime Contreras, 32BJ Capital Area Direct:
“The E-Verify verification system that Council Chairman John Olszewski wants to impose on Baltimore’s workers and businesses will only make matter worse by causing citizens and legal resident to lose their job and pushing undocumented workers deeper into the shadows – something that benefits only the most unscrupulous off-the-books employers.” said Jaime Contreras, 32BJ Capital Area Direct.
“If Council Chairman John Olszewski and E-Verity supporters want to protect American workers, they should call on the Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform rather than penalize the hardworking men and women that are already part of our communities.”
With more than 120,000 members in eight states, 32BJ is the largest property service workers union in the country.
