Miami Beach, FL – After an endorsement process involving member-screenings and policy briefings,32BJ SEIU Florida announced today its endorsements of Michael Gongora and Maria Meyer for the City of Miami Beach’s Commission runoff election.
“Miami Beach needs public policies that help create good jobs and keep our vibrant city affordable,” said Eric Brakken, Director of 32BJ SEIU Florida. “These candidates demonstrate the leadership and the commitment to make the Beach work for working families.”
Gongora and Meyer have been on the forefront of 32BJ’s “Stand for Security” campaign, which seeks to boost wages and health care coveragefor thousands of private and public security officers, including the security officers and parking attendants who keep public spaces and buildings at the City of Miami Beach safe and secure.
As part of its political program, 32BJ intends to mobilize its members to turn out voters in support of Gongora and Meyer for the runoff election on Tuesday November 17th.
With more than 110,000 members in eight states, including Miami Beach, 32BJ is the largest property service union in the country.
