“The Obama Administration is right to clean up our country’s shabby treatment of detained immigrants. Non-violent, non-criminal undocumented immigrants should not be jailed behind bars. Many detainees are young mothers, asylum seekers and members of our communities who, but for a lapsed visa or bureaucratic snafu, would not be in trouble with the law. Moving on a plan to legalize our millions of undocumented immigrants who contribute $700 billion dollars to our economy each year should be next on the Administration’s agenda.”
With more than 110,000 members in eight states, 32BJ is the largest property services union in the country.
