NOVA UNIVERSITY’S CONTRACTOR FACES
JUDGE FOR REFUSING TO HIRE UNION WORKERS

Miami,FL – Nova Southeastern University’s cleaning contractor TCB will face a federal judge on Monday for threatening and refusing to hire workers because of their union activities during an SEIU organizing campaign in 2007.

The trial comes two years after Nova abruptly terminated a ten-year contract with UNICCO Services Company, the previous cleaning contractor, and hired TCB. More than 100 workers lost their jobs when TCB was hired, and many of them are still jobless.

Last March, an administrative law judge found that Nova violated the law by threatening and interrogating a worker and intimidating workers for trying to unionize, according to a NLRB decision issued on March 18th 2009.
