On September 17, 32BJ members voted to re-elect the union’s leadership for another three-year term. In a decisive vote, the “Stand Together” team, led by four-term union president Mike Fishman, swept the elections. As the union’s top leadership posts – president, executive vice-president, secretary-treasurer and vice-presidents – were unopposed this year, as well as ten of the union's twelve districts, voting took place in only two districts – New Jersey and District 1201 in Philadelphia.
In New Jersey, more than 2100 members voted – the highest turnout in the district’s history. The NJ Stand Together slate, led by district leader Kevin Brown, garnered 85 percent of the votes. Also winning three-year terms in New Jersey were Patricia Arcila-Cabrera for assistant district leader, Bienvenido Araujo for district board member, Jose Ocampo for grievance board member and Maritza Palacios for trial committee member.
Members of District 1201, who joined 32BJ last year, voted to re-elect George Ricchezza as district leader, David Daino as assistant district leader, Karl Johnson as district board member, Angela Miller as grievance board member and Denise Ward as trial committee member.
