Contract update for CAT Team and all District 1201 members

The District 1201 contract with the School District of Philadelphia is extended until February 23rd, 2010. One Week Extension. We are meeting everyday to reach an agreement.

During this extension, all contractual provisions remain in effect, including grievances, arbitrations and health insurance. Please pass and post this information along to all 1201 members. Please keep an eye on your emails and our 1201 website.

As 60% of the school district's funding comes from the state, due to the state budget impasse in Harrisburg, the School District of Philadelphia and Local 32BJ/ District 1201 have agreed to a 60 day contract extension. During this extension, all contractual provisions remain in effect, including grievance arbitration and health insurance.

Please pass and post this information along to all 1201 members.

With ongoing negations with the Philadelphia School District there is still a tremendous need for CAT team members, your Union Bargaining Team will give the district representatives specific proposals to achieve the following goals:

• Protecting our Health Care
• Maintain high quality health care with no employee co-pay towards the premium.
• A Fair Wage Increase
• Pay increases large enough to keep ahead of inflation so that we can provide for our families.
• Protecting our Jobs
• Deal with sub-contracting and the school district’s practice of not replacing people when they retire, quit, or transfer.
• Departmental and Job Class Issues
• More hours for part-time workers
• Pay upgrades
• Better staffing levels
• Additional and better training
• Enough supplies and equipment to do our jobs
• Opportunities for advancement
• Overtime opportunities

To achieve these goals in these tough economic times, we need every District 1201 member to get involved in the fight for a fair contract.

That is why we are organizing our first-ever Contract Action Team (CAT). The CAT is made of members dedicated to organizing workers in their area around activities to support our contract goals.
