Partly due to our work in Harrisburg and Washington, DC the District had the funds available to run its largest summer program ever. And that has made it a busy summer for many 32BJ members.
Under language in our new contract, the District put over 70 ten-month employees to work as cleaners to help get schools in the best possible shape for the fall.
Many more drivers had routes this summer transporting some 50,000 kids to various summer programs.
And as usual, Maintenance Department members, Building Engineers, and the cleaning staff have been working overtime to get the schools ready for the new school year.

Under our new contract, effective September 1st the District will begin participating in the 32BJ Training Fund. The Training Fund is mailing each District 1201 member a survey to find out what kind of training members would like to receive. Be sure to complete it and send it back to the Fund.
Training Fund staff has already been meeting with the District over the summer to understand how training was worked in the past. The Fund is already working with the District to make the training program for newly hired Building Engineers faster and more effective.
