The scholarships are for the dependents of 1201 members every year we send out applications to the parents/ guardians of High school seniors letting them know their child is eligible for the scholarships and how to go about applying.
The applications have to be returned by April 15th of that school year, they are sent to a 3rd party, (as to assure fairness), to be screened, eight are chosen to receive scholarships for all 4 years. Four will receive $2000.00 each year and eight will receive $1000.00 each year. The rest of the applicants will receive a one time stipend, how much depends on how many applicants there were for that year.
There are currently 47 students enrolled in College that the fund is helping. The fund is funded by 1 cent per hour per member payroll deduction from 1201 members along with assorted fund raisers such as the Phillies tickets raffle, Union Hall rental, the sale of 1201 merchandise such as hats, shirts and jackets and of course donations.
